FAQ · 1001Where do I see my VIN?
In the mobile app at the bottom of the screen, in the vehicle display on the Software tab, or on the metal label under the driver side of the windshield, under the wiper.
02What is the PCS?
The Power Conversion System (PCS) is the Cybertruck component that converts high-voltage DC from the main battery into 48V DC for the truck's mid-voltage system, and also handles AC charging, AC outlets and Powershare functionality. It lives in the penthouse on top of the battery pack. See this teardown video for a closer look.
03What happens when it fails?
Symptoms of a failing PCS include slow or no AC charging, slow or no PowerShare functionality, and sometimes no Supercharging. Common error codes include PCS2_a094 (AC Charging unavailable), PCS2_a095 (Powershare unavailable), and PCS2_a128 (PCS failed health check). An upcoming software release will automatically enable free Supercharging until the vehicle is able to be repaired.
04Is there a recall?
No — there is no recall and no service bulletin covering PCS failures on the Cybertruck.
05Is it covered by warranty?
The PCS is covered under Tesla's 4-year / 50,000-mile basic vehicle warranty. 2026 Cybertrucks additionally cover the PCS under the 7-year / 70,000-mile High Priced Propulsion Related Parts warranty. If your truck is within the applicable window, a PCS failure should be repaired at no cost. Check your warranty terms and mileage to confirm.
06Can I get it fixed before it fails?
Tesla service generally will not replace a PCS preemptively — they wait for a confirmed fault. Some owners monitor for early warning signs (slow charging, 48V warnings) and book service as soon as symptoms appear, ideally before the truck is stranded.
07Can I fix it myself?
The PCS is a high-voltage component in the penthouse on top of the battery pack and requires disabling the HV system to service safely. DIY work is not recommended unless you have proper HV training and equipment. The Tesla service manual procedure is published for reference, but this should not be attempted by owners.
08How much does a repair cost?
Out-of-warranty, a PCS replacement is commonly quoted in the range of several thousand dollars including labor.
09Are there any current parts shortages?
Yes — the -T2-G repair part is currently backordered. Expect delays for PCS repairs that require this revision until supply is restored.
10How do you know this?
Results are based on statistical analysis of Tesla parts catalog data and owner reports.
